Dr. Cristina Canal and Dr. Cédric Labay, speakers at the ICPM-7

Scientifc Coordinator of APACHE, Dr. Cristina Canal, and PostDoctoral Fellow Dr. Cédric Labay, gave two talks at the 7th International Conference on Plasma Medicine, held in Philadelphia (USA) from the 17th to the 22nd of June, 2018.

Dr. Cristina Canal and Dr. Cédric Labay, Scientifc Coordinator and PostDoctoral Fellow of APACHE project, attended  ICPM-7: 7th International Conference on Plasma Medicine, held in Philadelphia (USA) from the 17th to the 22nd of June, 2018.

During their attendance to the international conference, they both presented oral works derived from the research carried on thanks to the support and funding  received from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement n° 714793) for the acquisition of vital equipment for the execution of this project:

  • I. Hamouda, C. Labay, J. Guillem-Marti, M.-P. Ginebra, C. CanalPlasma-Activated Medium: Selectivity on bone cancer cells. Oral communication.
  • C. Labay, I. Hamouda, M.-P. Ginebra, C. Canal. Modification of hydrogel-based biomaterials by atmospheric pressure plasma to enhance tissue regeneration. Oral communication.

Plasma Medicine is a new, rapidly growing field that faces many technological challenges and brings to the forefront fundamental questions on the mechanisms of interaction between living organisms and gas plasmas.

The conference creates a multidisciplinary forum, bringing together professionals from the fields of plasma physics, medicine, biology, biochemistry, pharmacy, agriculture, and food science and industry, to develop a common language, to better define key challenges and open questions, to further development of international collaborations, and to move toward effective solutions.
