Dr. Cédric Labay presented in the World Biomaterials Congress 2020 (WBC 2020) some of the last published works and advances in plasma-treated biopolymers of the ERC APACHE team summed up in a poster entitled “Cold Atmospheric Plasma Generation of Reactive Species in Hydrogel-Forming Natural Biopolymers”.
Dr. Inès Hamouda has been the first PhD. student from the APACHE project to complete her PhD. Thesis on "Synthesis and characterization of plasma-treated liquids and hydrogels for bone cancer therapy", co-directed by Dr. Cristina Canal and Dr. Cèdric Labay.

The special Issue "Application of Plasma Technology in Bioscience and Biomedicine" has been published by Applied Sciences, in the section "Applied Biosciences and Bioengineering". The issue, edited by Dr. Daniela Boehm (TU Dublin) and Dr. Cristina Canal (BBT-UPC) aims to cover the breadth and diversity of plasma technology in bioscience and biomedicine and provide a snapshot of some of the exciting research currently happening in this field.
Dr. Cristina Canal has received the ICREA Acadèmia Award 2020 for her outstanding research.
